Print on durable vinyl at a (web) print shop like GameOnGrafixs. Your CP artwork can be covered by plexi or printed on special material like covered with polycarbonate to protect it against beating and sweaty hands.

I've seen sideart covered by plexi. It looks like ass, and it puts holes in the side of a cabinet.

Some games had impressive art. Sometimes it was stenciled. Other times it was just a decal on the side. Even other times, with Ms Pac Man as an example, the "aftermarket" side art is later sold as a vinyl decal.
If you are restoring a cabinet, it is best to go with the original method. If you are building for home use, do what ever.
