Title: front end?
Post by: dcninja on April 13, 2014, 04:14:21 am
I'm using gamelauncher now but... I would prefer a front end that runs on a Pentium 4 and allows a favorites list that u can add or del from in the front end... Video preview playing would also be nice. Simpler is better. Thanks!!

Advancemenu (but I don't know if it supports video preview).

I use GameEx.  Great support community and easy to use.

I really wish attract mode worked on my system but it just runs too damn slow and no one has any idea why.

I've only got P4 machines running in my cabs and MaLa is rock solid. I even made video previews for my SF cab. There's occasionally a small lag in video playback(sometimes it takes an extra second or two for it to play the preview) nothing that's too annoying or anything. You can have lots of lists. Removing games from your list is as quick/simple as Right-Click - Remove Game From This List. Adding games requires more clicks but it's not complicated.

I'm setting up a P4 1.8ghz single core with a geforce 2 mx 400 & mala with video previews seems to play ok for me so far.
I'm just setting up the system so havn't had any long term experience.
It also does ok for SD resolution video's for a screen saver.

Mamewah should also work on that system.

My ultimate goal is to try them all.  Or as many as reasonable.
I started with mame32 then hyper spin & now I usually use mames native list.

It's ok to try more than 1

Mala.  It has a Gamelauncher skin available for it and has a bit more bells and whistles.  Simple yet powerful.  Runs great on a Pentium 4.
