Hi guys, can I use a spinner with attached steering wheel for games like cruis'n usa? I tried today and got it to work somewhat but the sensitivity was way off and I couldn't dial it in to something playable.

The spinner is basically a 360 degree steeringwheel. IIRC you can set the sensitivity in the configuration of MAME (hit the 'tab' key).

I didn't want to chime in on this one because it's a hard question to answer really.
Technically the answer Felsir gave is correct. The thing is though, Driving game controls vary so widely that even with an analog wheel, if you can get a game to "feel right" very much depends upon the game's particular controls.
I think it's one of those deals where you need to make a list of the games you want to play and try it out.

See the driving cab info thread.

Thanks for your replies guy. Thing is a did try to change the sensitivity in the cruis'n usa game settings but I couldn't get it anywhere near playable. I'll make a video and post it later.

I'll check it out.

I checked the driving cab info thread and the spreadsheet referenced but cruis'n usa isn't even listed.

Wheel - In general, games that used one type of wheel don't work very well with the other type.
360° wheels can be limited to 270° by mechanical means (a stop),
or bkenobi has worked out a way to do it though software:

that's what I was going for.
(was very short on time)
There's also this newer way:
