Here we go again. After the two years and 1000 plus dollars I spent on my first build http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,123381.msg1315863.html#msg1315863 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,123381.msg1315863.html#msg1315863) I figured my next one would go faster and cheaper and look great. Well I'm starting to like the way it looks and I don't have money into it, less than 200, but it is taking me forever to build.

Very nice. Reminds me of the Widowmaker bartop I made a while back, but I think I like how you implemented your control panel top better.
Why did you go with a street fighter button layout?

Actually it's a 6 Button MORTAL KOMBAT Button Layout.
Thanks to RODMAN for all his help.

I just checked out the Widowmaker build thread. Yes they are very similar. I really like the way you think. The side shape and controls are scaled versions of the original Mortal Kombat Cabinet.

The six button Mortal Kombat layout is the X and the run button, that picture is just the street fighter layout with a MK CPO. Semantics, yes, but still its not an MK layout at all, which was why he was asking.
-
Malenko is right in that layout is kind of odd to use, especially if you are used to playing Mortal Kombat. How do I know? Well, I attached a pic of my machine. I remember making most of this artwork, but I sure can't find it anymore. Someone PM'd me a while back looking for it. It's a 6 button MKII CPO. The problem is when playing MKII, both middle buttons are block and it feels a little weird, but is playable. MKIII though, it's not really playable without the run button where your thumb should be.
If you aren't a even slightly serious MK player, it's no big deal. I'm not a huge MK fan, but I do like fighters - mostly street fighter. So, as weird as it is, I like the MK machines but I prefer the SF fighters and I have a 6 button SF layout on a MK machine - like you!

Yes you are correct it is a Street Fighter lay out maskerading as a MK. The logic behind it is the games on here. It's comprised solely of 2 person fighters. 211 of them

211... lol, there sure are "different" fighting games out there. I know I've played some real oddball ones.

Thanks Malenko

That sure is a nice looking MK layout. Thanks Mike. If anyone ever needs a MaLa layout, Mike should be the first person you call. Fast, Reliable and easy to work with, even if you give him the wrong aspect ratio ans an all around stand up guy.
-
Hey, Does anyone know how to print a gamelist in MaLa. Convert a Mala .mlg file to something I can read in MSOFFICE ?
Sorry Moved this Question over to Mala thread

Got some work done today.
Got everything lined ans squared up.
Got all the top/bottom and front measured and cut.
-
I saved these off a shipping box I had to throw away at work. Probably threw away 400 of them but my boss would of fired me if he caught wasting time unscrewing hinges off some trash cargo boxes.
-
I need to order joysticks and buttons but I can't decide, red or black? I'm leaning towards red sticks with black buttons. What do you guys think?

So I priced this 4 foot piano hinge at HomeDepot Online and it was 6 bucks so I ran up to the nearest HD and come to find out they wanted $17 for it in store. So I went back home and ordered 3 of them online for $18 chose the instore pickup option and went back to the same Home Depoot and picked em up.
Time to figure out the lock.

My Posse's on Broadway
Feel the bass from my boomin system
Went with my old tried and true method of drilling angled graph paper.

OK, The hole on the right is going to get a piece of metal to mount the recessed power button and volume knob.
The hole in the center is going to be boxed like the handles on an upright cabinet and used as a carrying handle.
The space on the left will get a serial/ BYOAC tag.
-
Wanted to show a pic of the speaker holes and monitor mounted.
What I have left to do.
1. Figure out how to attach or run the power cord.
2. Unbox the mother board and power supply for test fit and mounts fabricated.
3. box in handle and mount volume plate and pot.
4. tear the whole thing apart and sand and seal.
5. Put it all back together , putty any cracks , sand and primer.
6. Paint.
7. Cut bezel and marquis plastic.
8. order graffix. (I have a better copy of the side art so I have a little work left in my Chasys IE art software).
9. Put it all together. and post a YouTube video.

-
What did I need? A paint booth.
So what did I build?

Two coats of primer and Dirt Cheap Trading Company delivered some sticks and buttons I ordered Monday and yes, they were dirt cheap. They even sent the white switches I requested. Those guys are great.
-
Turned this into a marquis backlight, 12 AAA batteries and 4 microswitches for $9 bucks, figure the batteries gotta be worth at least half of that.

Yes, I am bringing sexy back.

Lookin' good!
