Title: How much would you pay? (Working taito championship wresling)
Post by: Fonkybeachbum on March 28, 2014, 12:40:46 pm
I can pick up a taito championship wresling (1989) for $500.
Assuming the screen looks good (planning on a custom cp and mame conversion), does this sound like a good deal to you guys?

Seems like this was a conversion kit.  If that is the case, the cabinet is whatever under performing game was on his route.  Or it could be a dynamo cabinet. *shrug*

OTOH hand, it is hard to gauge if this is a good deal in *YOUR* area without knowing where you are.   You should post a pic and your zip code so that folks that are local to you can comment.   Its impractical to give an estimate on a cabinet without a picture. There is about 1 cabinet a quarter in my Quad-County area.  YMMV

OOTOH
Don't maim for MAME, build from scratch.  I can't find the link now, but somewhere, probably on the WIKI or in one of the project threads, there is a description on the average bill of materials.  Depending on the condition the used cabinet is in, your project could be akin to domesticating a feral cat.  Are you going to keep the tube and jamma harness?

Unless you are sentimentally attached to Taito Championship Wrestling, pass, or build your own.

Offer $250 cash in hand.  You'll be the only offer he gets.

On the plus side, at least it's an actual Taito cab, rather than some crappy Dynamo. In the case of this game, I wouldn't be sad to see this be MAME'd, considering the game never even had a dedicated cabinet.
