Hi, I finally got a screen to tate and a tated-frontend with my favorite shmups but I'd like to still be able to play in Yoko sometimes when I don't want to switch the setup just for one game (and also because my yoko frontend as "yoko-ized" games and I don't feel like removing them), can I use the Tate modelines for some Yoko sessions now and then?
If not, what can I do to make this double setup clean?
Thanks.

If you mean keeping the screen on tate orientation all the time, and be able to play horizontal games in that situation, sure you can. Create an horizontal.ini file, and add:
orientation vertical.
In mame.ini, keep option -orientation as 'vertical' or 'rotate_r' or whatever you have.

No, it's not what I mean, sorry my question was a bit confusing. Here it is in clear ;):
I have two screens and one computer. One screen is in Tate and the other one in Yoko. On the computer I have a frontend with only Tate games and a frontend where I have all my games on Yoko (even some games who are also on the Tate frontend but here they are turned 90° to Yoko).
Ex: I have Dodonpachi in the Tate frontend and I want to play it in Tate of course. But I also have it on the Yoko frontend and I'd like to play it on yoko on this one for the few times when I'm too lazy to move my computer to the other screen.
So my problem is that I cannot create modelines for Yoko AND for Tate for the same game I guess? And even if I could it would be too much for Hyperspin so I was wondering what would be the effect of playing the game in Yoko but with the Tate modelines?

It will probably work just fine, maybe you'll get somewhat lower definition modes for vertical games than what you'd get if you created all the modelines for the yoko case. GroovyMAME will try to pick the highest vertical resolution (interlaced) that supports the target refresh: 480i, 496i, 512i, 520i, etc.

Thanks Calamity, that seems perfect to me.
Last question: I have a ini file for each of those games with the "right" Yoko modelines inside (because it's Shmupmame), should I delete them?

Well, if those modes are not available, then you should delete those inis.

Thank you Calamity, once more. ;)
