Title: Wico command control + Tron
Post by: dfwdennis on March 05, 2014, 11:03:01 pm
My Mame cabinet has a Turbo Twist 2 spinner but doesn't have room for another joystick.  Tron is next to impossible to play without a button on the stick, so I'm thinking about buying a Wico Command Control joystick (like I had in the Atari 2600 days!) and hooking it up to my Mame box with this Atari to USB adapter:

I really need a solution that I can put away when not in use.  Has anyone tried something like this before?  Would it be worthwhile?

If you really love the game, nothing compares to the original Joystick.

Sure the WICO Command will give you the Button to fire, but when it come to the LIGHT CYCLE, you need that Joystick to act like a 4-way and not 8-way (this was the special thing about the TRON Joystick).

But if you just want to play it, the WICO or any other Joy with Button will do along with a SPINNER.

I just can't convince my wife that I need to spend a couple hundred bucks to get the original Tron controls.  :)

I suppose I could configure Tron to use either the Wico or my Ultrastick 360, and play the light cycles with the U360.  That might be close enough to be really fun.

Sigh, I haven't come up with a solution for Star Wars yet...
