Title: Groovymame doesn't work when connected to Jpac
Post by: Herdinger on March 03, 2014, 06:23:32 pm
Hi,
I finally got groovymame running on arch, I patched sdl and the ati drivers and am using an
onboard card of the 4000 series.

When I start groovymame with my Pc monitor connected via VGA it correctly switches the resolution and displays everything fine if I connect to jpac after that.

However if I quit mame still connected to jpac and try to start it again groovymame segfaults.

Also if I use xrandr for an interlaced mode and connect to jpac everything is fine, then starting groovymame leads to it trying a 1x1 resoultion for some reason and then quitting.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Herdinger,

I gather you're using your own patched Arch installation, not Groovy Arcade. No problem with that, just make sure you're configuring mame.ini for the right connector. Under the "core switchres options" you have the -connector option that you need to set up. This string is passed to xrandr so that it targets the proper connector. This is done automatically by the setup scripts when you use Groovy Arcade, but in your case you need to do it manually, I recommend listing the existing connectors through xrandr to see how it expects them to be named. (Maybe this is not related to your issue, just an idea).

I already got that option set, so thats not it.

I'm not at home right now so I will supply logs later, my best bet would be that it has something to do with EDID?

Consider doing the same test with the live-cd.
