I recently had a opportunity to get a Insignia 20" TV and gladly accepted it. I have a cocktail cabinet project that I am hoping to use it in. The TV is 4:3, CRT, with component inputs as well as a bunch of others. I have a nVidia 9400GT video card that has a TV out with a component connection. I am hoping to de-case the TV and put it in the cocktail cabinet.
Has anyone done this or know of any projects that did. I hope there is enough room to make it fit.
Also with the TV will I be able to use Windows 7 at 640x480? Or will I have to go back to XP?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

We can't tell you what will or won't fit if you don't tell us what cocktail cabinet you have.
Although honestly, the insignia isn't a good choice of display. Odd tube size won't be a drop in to 19" cocktails nor will it easily mate up with 19" arcade bezels. I have never really been happy with what mame looked like over TV out and have redone both TV powered projects I did in the past with VGA CRT monitors instead.

It is a Bally/Midway cocktail cabinet. It was originally a PacMan but had been converted and modified a few times by the time I got it. It was in pretty bad shape. I rescued it before it completely fell apart.
I know there was a 19" arcade monitor in there so I am hoping that the 20" TV will fit. I know it is not exact match but all of the 19" TV's I have ever seen only have a coax input. Which isn't easy to connect with a PC.
I got theTV for free so I am going to give it a shot. I figure the TV will have a more authentic feel then an LCD in there.

I will take some pics later but it is an Insignia model IS-TV040919. It has coax, composite, s-video and component inputs. I haven't had an opportunity to try it yet, I hope to this weekend. I couldn't find anything on its resolution capabilities so I assume it only does 480 and not sure if it is progressive or interlaced.
Here is a tech page on it:

If you go to the support tab there is a PDF of the manual that shows all of the connections.

Without some intense mods I would have to agree with the bad idea crowd... Jenn would find a tube to fit it then work backwards.

Hang a 19-20" PC monitor in there instead and use a scan line generator. It will look a lot better than the tv will.
