Title: How long is yours? Joystick height!
Post by: eds1275 on February 28, 2014, 07:20:01 pm
I was playing on Lime-Aid, The Lime Arcade today. It has an X-Arcade stick in it. It's not really a good stick but I prefer the feel of the clicking over the super-smoothness of my U-360's. Another thing I noticed is that it sits taller. My U-360's seem very low by comparison, and I'll be adding a thin layer of metal to my control panel next week, bringing joystick height down another hair.

The X-Arcade is currently 2 7/8(ish) tall. The u-360 is like 2 3/8. I'm going to add a few small washers between the bottom of the bat-top and the shaft to raise it up, and in the future order the extra long handles. The X-Arcade bat top is fairly bulbous in comparison to the Ultimarc.

Is there a standard joystick height?

I have under-mounted all my joysticks and realize top mounting would give me the glory I seek... but if I can get away without rebuilding my control panel from scratch I most definitely will!

Using Happ competition joysticks in 1\2 MDF on my bartop and the joys sit right at 3" from the CP top to the top of the stick.

Have you checked out the joystick mount (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=FAQ#Joysticks) section of the FAQ?

You can get a very shallow mount-depth and keep the top of the CP smooth using support blocks like EMDB did.

Either way you mean it, I'm just under an inch. :)

The ball top is just under an inch from the cp top on mine
