F'ing loved Macgyver....

I loved it when I was young.  When I went back and watched it as an adult, I couldn't make it through one episode.

I attempted to watch an episode of Airwolf the other day...
It didn't take long before I shut that one down.
However I still watch some knight rider with my son, it's cheesy but even back when I was a kid watching it, I felt it was cheesy.

I rewatched a lot of Macgyver. The thing that bugs me is Macgyver's job at the phoenix foundation. When the show started, he worked for a top secret organization that stopped terrorists, recovered stolen national treasures, covertly went into communist countries for rescue missions, etc. The writers gradually turned it into a philanthropy group that did things like take underprivileged youth camping and raised drug abuse awareness. Any episodes left with action in it were mostly when he was doing freelance hero work. The cool things he rigged together became less and less cool over the years as well.

This may be a 10 minute car commercial, but Richard Dean Anderson did reprise the Macgyver role a couple years ago. A fun watch if you haven't seen it.

I did the same thing about a year ago.  Some things are better left to being remembered.  Same with Space 1999.

Yes, and the same with the 3rd Mad Max movie. I remembered it so much better (even though Tina Turner was in it)

I got nostalgic and watched some of the first 3 seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers..... its campy and cheesy but the fight choreography still holds up.

I hate to admit it, but you're right.

Old cartoons were way better: The Real Ghostbusters, Transformers, TMNT.  Even the 90's Disney stuff was solid: Duck Tales, Tailspin, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck.

How could you forget the Animaniacs?  :dizzy:

The Oilers are like the Mullet of the NHL: horrible to look at and havn't been relevant since the 80's.

I didn't say they were any good, in fact they are terrible. It's just... when you move here, you have to sign a contract that states if ever you see a Calgary Flames fan, you must mock them.

In real life he was a MN North Stars fan, (now a MN Wild fan). He was gonna be a professional hockey player as a career, but broke both of his arms and could no longer play. He has so many ties to professional hockey, that I don't doubt he wore the flames hat for a friend.

I didn't know what to say....still don't :)

But where coincidental dates are concerned, there are a couple now that are very weird.  From Chance's wiki link for Feb. 26;

1993 – World Trade Center bombing: In New York City, a truck bomb parked below the North Tower of the World Trade Center explodes, killing six and injuring over a thousand.

Now guess the date in 2000 that the groovygamegear.com domain was first registered....

In any case, I've been around longer than 12 years.  Pretty sure some of those dates are when the new forums went up, so I won't read into the coincidences (too much..)

I only watch old movies (VHS mostly) due to the fact I REFUSE TO GIVE HOLLYWOOD A DIME, With 2 exceptions, Tron2, and Gran Torino, both were pretty awesome.... And for the record, Mcguyver is still HOT!!!

And to further go off topic with this thread,
Gran Torino was a great big turd of a movie.
I think I would take being strapped in a chair with my eyes propped open clock work orange style while being forced to watch West Side Story followed by High School Musical rather than Gran Torino

Gran Torino was a contemporary western.  Once you accept that, it's enjoyable.
