Not a groovymame question per se but related to Calamity's drivers.
I am running winXP32 with the crt_emu drivers and can't seem to get SSF to run. Windows says I have directx9.0c, which I have read is the right ver, but the program just refuses to run, it crashes on startup. Wondering if it could be a video driver issue since I have seen that as the other thing to try (update video drivers)

Hi Tzakiel,
When a program crashes, it isn't fair to assume it is a video driver issue. It is the responsibility of a programmer to make sure his program doesn't crash. If it was a video driver issue, you'd probably see something serious like a blue screen.
Probably SSF is assuming something that is not true, like a certain video mode must be present (800x600?), and it's failing because of that.

That's exactly the same issue I had. You'll need access to a higher resolution than 640x480. Not as good, but another option would be Yabause (Sega Saturn emulator). Hope this helps.

OK... thanks for the info. Looks like there is no way to get it going on a 480i display then? I'll look into that other emulator.

Just use MESS. It actually runs some games that SSF doesn't (but SSF runs some games that MESS doesn't).
MESS with HLSL looks awesome anyway.
