So I've got a console racing wheel (a Fanatec for Xbox) where the plastic/rubber on the wheel has become really tacky and unpleasant to touch. Any recommendations on what I could wrap it with (or another fix)? I've never covered a car's steering wheel and this one is of course smaller than a real wheel.

I would go with those kits you get for cars to wrap the wheel in leather. You have to essentially sew them onto the wheel with the included strapping and because no car wheel is the same size, they are designed so that you cut to fit.

I used one like this on my Trans Am back in the day:

(first one I came across with a good pic, might not be the best deal)

You stretch it over the wheel, then wrap the cord around it every inch or so to hold it in place.
The seam where the two ends are joined into a loop usually doesn't look that great anyway, so you could cut it down to whatever size you need and glue a seam that looks as good as the original.

Man that is old school. :)
I was thinking more along the lines of one of these kits:

Hmm... that doesn't really show you what they look like.
Here:

I don't recommend actually buying it there though. 40 bucks for a cover is a bit steep imho.

Thanks guys, will check into those options. Wheel looks almost new but might have been stored somewhere really warm for a long time (a recent ebay purchase).

Ive got the exact same wheel and have the exact same problem. The plastic wrapping like melted onto wheel or something, ive cleaned it up as best as possible but it still feels weird. Especially on the black bits left and right sides

That's weird... it must be some sort of oddball defect.
