I have a Thermaltake Fan Speed adjuster kit.
see:

Basically, I just want to hook up two external led fans to the cab, and use the X-blower kit to adjust the speeds. I am not going to use the TT fans, just the speed knobs.
Questions:
which wires do what?
The fans have 3 wires - yellow, red, and black.
The knobs each have a red/black pair
I don't care about seeing the fan speed with the computer...just adjusting it with the knobs (for noise control more than cooling).
The connectors don't match, so I'll splice the wires...I just don't know which ones go where. My instinct says match the colors, but I have a feeling there is a trick. I doubt the LED fans need both 12v and 5v.
I am already powering the coin door lights and trackball with 12v from the PS.
TIA

I'm not completely sure, but I think the yellow wire is the fan speed sensor. The speed control is basically a potentiometer so my guess would be red to red, black to black.

Yeap, just match up the colors, yellow is fan speed signal wire and can be ignored for your application.
