Title: Need expert help on scrolls
Post by: Serpent on December 01, 2003, 02:19:19 am
MAME is experiencing a hiccup in scrolls every 26 seconds. After many tests I've found out this is due to the fact that the exact refresh rate for the mode I'm using 1600x1200 is not 60.000 but 60.041. This is what Powerstrip reports. I cannot adjust it exactly to 60.0000. Using 1600x900 I see that the refresh rate is 60.011 which increases the amount of time between hiccups. Any idea how can I get perfect match for 60hz? Using syncrefresh or matchrefresh doesn't help. I've also tested a lot using rdtsc timing system and many other options. This happens using my Geforce DDR on a LG monitor under Win98SE. With my ArcadeVGA pluged into a SCART TV, no problems at all.

Man!  Why are you using such a high resolution?  AFAIK, no game in mame goes above 800x600, and even that I think is pushing it.

With my Geforce I'm using hardware stretch. Using high res modes guarantees better and homogeneous stretch and software scanlines.

Actually, I don't think any game in Mame goes above medium resolution, which is like 384x240 or something like that.
