Title: Arcade bus
Post by: michelevit on February 07, 2014, 11:17:12 am

Back in college I fantasied of converting a large bus or box van into a rolling arcade. Now that I’m older and have some resources I’m entertaining the idea as a way to store my collection. Has anyone ever seen something like this. Seems like it would be good at corporate parties or school carnivals. I'm thinking of a large van, dim with black lighting.

He wants to drive a dark van around schools.  Nothing bad could happen.  Go for it.

You know what would attract kids? Free candy!

But seriously, I've seen stuff like this around with consoles and such, so it might not be a bad idea. The main thing would be powering the games, plus taking into account the jostling around the pcbs and monitors would take driving around.

IIRC there was someone that had a game in his VW Bus.  Just watchout for pot holes

Someone on KLOV has a trailer that has the games mounted on the OUTSIDE. '

There were two of those outfits in San Antonio and I kept waiting for them to have a territorial throw down.  The ads on Craig's List got increasingly desperate.  They'd trade their services for ANYTHING imaginable that could be resold for $20-50.

There was one of these at our local arcade auction a few years ago.   I thought it was a one-off.  Interesting.

My youngest went to a birthday party a few years ago where they pulled in a trailer with several big screen TV's and consoles loaded with every game you can imagine.  I don't know what the parents paid but the kids had an absolute blast.

I think in some ways, that might be easier than hauling full-sized machines in a van. It's an interesting build, to be sure.

I do repairs for these guys.

They do pretty well.
And of course, arcade games on a trailer seem to need to more repairs. :applaud:

I once bought a GMC RTSII city bus at an auction for $2300. It would have been perfect for a mobile arcade.
