Title: Star Wars Arcade Question
Post by: BAMBOO on February 05, 2014, 10:14:28 pm
Can I use the Atari Hydra Arcade as a Atari Star Wars Arcade?  The stick is the same right?

Short answer:  yes.

Hydra has plastic hand grips that are the same as the ones found on STUN runner.  The inner workings of the yoke are identical and unlike the STUN Runner those handles come with thumb buttons.  If you have a real hardon for the right handles they are a simple bolt on but you'll pay a premium for them online.  Someing like $40 per half, that's $160 for a set.

I can't recall if Hydra has the same verticle axis limitation as STUN Runner but even if it does it's a super easy $5 conversion, you just have to take a backet off and add a spring that's easy to source.

Cool.  Thanks La Chuck.  There is a fully working Hydra for sale in my state for $325.00 figure I might check it out now.

Do you have a good source for those pieces on-line? I could use a half for part of my yoke, but so far all sources showing out of stock for the outer half on the right grip.

Not currently, I can keep an eye out for you tho.  Are you missing a piece or do you just have a piece that needs repair?

My outer shell on the right handle has a chip of metal gone and a small crack, would much rather swap then repair in its current state.
