Title: Test Patterns
Post by: Paradise on February 01, 2014, 08:23:59 pm
Hi,

what to you guys use for geometry/color tests?
I tried the old Nokia Monitor Test. But the white lines flicker like crazy.
Does it not work from PC to RGB TV?

If i use an image like this one: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/39/Philips_PM5544.gif (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/39/Philips_PM5544.gif)
as desktop background then nothing flickers except the white line in the center.

EDIT:
I made now some test patterns that i can show with my Sat-Receiver.
There are 16:9 HD patterns all over the web but its hard to find 4:3 stuff.
If you find 4:3 then the size is funny.
I also found a program called CalMAN HTPC Test Pattern Generator.
This one is coole if you have the PC connected to the TV.
Its from this company: http://spectracal.com/ (http://spectracal.com/)
You can get it here: http://download.cnet.com/CalMAN-HTPC-Pattern-Generator/3000-2651_4-10814123.html (http://download.cnet.com/CalMAN-HTPC-Pattern-Generator/3000-2651_4-10814123.html)

I attached my images. Maybe somebody has use for them.

And i saw here is a monitor section and i would better post this there.
My thought was that Groovy is all about the perfect picture.

Thanks for posting this. I've always used the Nokia program, it was good enough for me.

I started off with the Nokia test program but more recently I've favoured the NEC Test Pattern Generator 1.0 program.

The nice thing about the NEC software is that you can isolate the RGB for most patterns and also do low, medium and high resolution versions of the patterns.

For arcade stuff, I prefer to run the Nokia or NEC program with my desktop set at 320 × 240. It's much easier to setup geometry and focus with a progressive resolution rather than an interlaced mode.
