Anyone ever tried to make an air hockey table? A friend of mine (a woodworker and electrical engineer) asked me the other day if I ever came across plans for a DIY table, and so far I havent. Anyone tried this, or can point me in the right direction?

Actully i do know of plans but i dont remember where they are tho :(
I'l search for you when i get home but what i remember is all you need to do is evenly drill holes over the playfield and you use a lef blower (you know them things u use to blow leafs away) as the air pump.
i'll find the plans for you later ok :)
but another alternative is to buy a self powered air puck they are big but its cheaper and all you need to make is a table no holes nothing :)

A leaf blower? For the air blower.....you've got to be kidding! That would be awfully LOUD!
Generally the commercial coin-op Dynamo air hockey (and it's predisessor the Brunswick) use a Grainger blower assembly and commonly available furnace filters for the air system.

Yeah they said leaf blower altho id use that keaf blower to make my own hovercraft :D
but yes im sure there is better and less noisy solutions :)
He did ask about the a DIY table and i just mentioned what i saw awhile ago :)
but rampy actually posted the build your own air hockey table 2 post up :) so check that out
also check this out for a bit of fun ;) how to build your own human air hockey puck :D its a homemade hovercraft as i mentioned above but the www.howthingswork.com has better instructions on how to build 1

No, I don't know what size/type offhand, but if someone could get inside a Dynamo air hockey and get the numbers off the Grainger blower motor nameplate it would be a big help.
