Title: Haruman Bartop Questions
Post by: Vylrath on January 26, 2014, 05:41:06 pm
Hi,

I'm brand new to the world of cabinet production.  My first undertaking is the widescreen bartop by Haruman.

In what order do I put the pieces together?  I've put together the two side panels with the five main pieces like the instructions on the Buy/Sell page describe.  I'm just not sure how to attach the piece that holds the controls (if that's even the next step).  I tried to screw in the two small tabs to the controls piece, then realized it was too big to fit into the slots that way, so I took out the screws and tabs.  But if I put the tabs into the slots and THEN try to attach the controls piece to the tabs, there's no way to screw them together!  I'm so lost!

Is there more of a step-by-step somewhere?  I feel like I'm in over my head.  Any advice (other than "give up", haha)?  I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

Regards,
Brian

the little batons go in the gaps , then the control panel either screws into them, or you can industrial velcro them.  Here is a pic from my Hung Donkey Cab:

I just built that same cabinet, also as MY first build. Here's the link to the Haruman thread: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,130522.0.html (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,130522.0.html)
He's really great about answering questions that you may think are really really really stupid.

Here's what I can tell you (let me know if you want to know anything specific): The control panel and back door are both attached via whatever you think is the best method. I used velcro strips on the sides and bottom of the control panel. I don't know that it was the best solution, but it gets the job done. As for the back door, I put hinges in the bottom and one of those door locks you see on bathroom stalls on the top to latch it closed.

Word to the wise: Do not permanently glue anything into place until you're sure you're not going to need to drill holes in it first. The amount of awkward angle drilling I had to do is frankly embarrassing.

Too late.  Glue is drying as I type.  I guess I get to cover the same ground.  :lol
