Anyone know what's going on with Turnarcades? I had a reply from Craig before Christmas and now he seems to have gone dark. I'm GAGGING to put an order in! :hissy:
-
same here, I've given up with them now! They clearly don't want the business :banghead:
-
I'm not complaining - I get that it's a small team and he stated clearly on his Facebook that he was taking Christmas off. Just want to know when he's back!

Craig wrote a long and open-hearted post on facebook a few days ago. I imagine it's frustrating for a potential customer, but I think it's just part of the deal if you want to buy from him. He's got a lot on his plate and the addition of Revival doesn't really help. But he's a great guy and wants to keep it small so the business remains close to his heart.
I know that doesn't help, but you can see where he's at if you check in on him on facebook.

Ah thanks for pointing that out - hadn't realised he'd posted since his Christmas update.
Best of luck then Craig, all the best for 2014!

thats fair enough, but simple response or update wont hurt.

I gave up with Turnarcades and built my own, too much hassle to get anything from Craig, seems to be one excuse after another.
-
Well my woodwork sucks, I have no room to do it and I don't have the tools. Plus I like his slimline model.

There's only one way to do something about that! You're in the right place too. Everyone has to start somewhere and that goes for tools too.
Make a start on the plans and before you know it, it will be spring and warm (and dry!) enough to work outside if you don't have a garage.

I made a plan to do so 3 years ago, bought some wood, promptly wasted it and realised I wasn't having fun either. I'm quite content buying a flat pack at this point!

There are plenty of other flat pack kits about, ebay or do a google search you'll find them, they may be a little more expensive than Turnarcades, but a lot less hassle. Also worth loking for an old cab to restore, again there always seems to be plenty on ebay.
-
Yeah have been looking, but like I say, it's the slimline model I really want as I don't have room for a big one. I did find a "midi" model on eBay lately but it looks pretty cheap...

I looked into buying a quality flat pack kit, but in the UK there are very few people doing them, and as you say, the ebay ones are junk.
-
'Zackly. So for now I'm happy to wait a bit until Craig is back up and running!

your other option is to use some of the plans around the net, and send them to your local CNC wood cutter and have them make you a flat pack kit. I nearly did this, but ended up finding a suitable complete arcade cabinet for good money.
-
Yeah that may be an idea. I'd worry about the joins though. Is there yet a repository that collects plans for cabinets on the internet? Is there one in the wiki? (I'm not at a computer to check properly)

drop me your email addy, I'll send you what I have collected over the last 3 months.

You guys don't have a British version of Rick willing to take this on?

I was just looking at this vid:

I really like the look of the quality - it would be good if Turnarcades is still doing this. I'll send them an email anyway.
