Title: Removing cleaner marks from plexiglass? Help!

Someone who shall not be named wiped cleaner on my plexiglass monitor cover. It looks like this (this is not my arcade machine, obviously, but a clock with plexi they used the same cleaner on and it did the same type of damage)  I believe it was windex or similar.

I've tried distilled water and Plast-X (a plastic polish product) on a soft rag so far with no luck, absolutely no improvement.  Has anyone found a way to repair this sort of damage?

those look like marks left from production of the plastic (being parallel and all.) the windex may have stripped off a minute layer of plastic.

take a look at those headlight restoration kits....some come with a greasy messy to apply sealer wipe (that is in all likelihood just silicone). it should seal up the plastic and make it look smooth again. you can buy it in bulk too.

The marks (on both clock and monitor cover) seem to just be in the direction the cloth was wiped, more than anything. It looks like something dried or etched in.

The headlight cleaner kits are just some fine sandpaper (1500 & 3000 grit IIRC) and the plastx polish.
They'll throw in a buffer pad that attaches to a drill if you're lucky.

You could sand and buff it out.  You'll have to remove enough material to get past the damaged part, then polish it until clear.
I'd just buy another piece of plexi rathat than do all that work.  :-\

Well since I have the polish already, I will try it. How does one sand plexi? Just go at it dry with 3000 grit?

I've used water the couple times I've sanded headlights, but I'm no expert.
