Title: Can a monitor be vesa mounted directly onto wood?
Post by: Morphx2 on January 18, 2014, 09:44:00 pm
I have probably around a 1/2 gap between the wood and monitor if I mount it directly.

Can this be done, would it be strong enough?

I tried with a mount I got from amazon, but it gave too much gap between the monitor and wood and the plexiglass would not fit in at all!   :(

Directly mounting it would make it juuuuuust fit

I didn't measure it beforehand :)

Most use a cross member of wood with the monitor VESA mounted directly to that, then the cross member mounted in the cab.  That's what I've seen and what I've done.

I kinda did my own crazy mount for the wood

So I can just buy screws and screw it directly into the wood?

rotate the picture and it will look correct

the middle wood is vertical

That should work with no problems.  The only difference between what you are doing there and a "real" VESA mount is the materials involved.  Wood is plenty strong enough.  I recommend getting bolts that are long enough for a washer though, so the bold head doesn't sink in to the wood over time.
