Has anyone ever come across any DIY versions of Indoor Golf Simulators that you find in some sports bars (ex: www.fullswinggolf.com/usa/ or www.deadsolidgolf.com)? During post-Thanksgiving feasting the family and I got on the topic of whether this could be done 'on the cheap'. My parents play a LOT of golf and have withdrawals during the winter months. During my cursory googling, I could not find anything that would help me. Thought I'd throw it out to this group.

This isn't a DIY but it might give you some ideas (it's $$$$!)

Thanks, Frosti! That gives me a better starting point than the other solutions. Will likely be one of those research projects that get filed away as a bit too expensive to do properly. It appears that the most expensive piece is the ball sensor that the various sites use. The screen, projection system, PC, and 'grass' are all places where costs could be slashed for a DIY project.

Dont know if this would help but there is a PC controller that has a golf club with a sensor on the end (no head on the golf club its more like a stick with a sensor) and a sensor on the ground and it has a really nice 2D gold game (looks like a advance version of links so its pretty good compared to a 3d golf game)
it was only $100 and im sure u can get them very cheap now :) so a tv hooked up to a pc in a small cab is all you would need. or even just use the normal tv

Do you have a link for that, NiN? Thanks.
