Title: Pivot point for motorcycles
Post by: mxforlife on November 28, 2003, 01:35:00 pm
Looking for ANY info on what they use as far as movement for arcade machines. If you have ever played a motorcycle game you know that if you lean to your left or right that is of course the way you move. I'm kinda thinking they pivot on a big four way joystick. Is this right? Lean left go left, lean back go back, if this is wrong ( probably is) can somebody point me in the right direction? I've searched and searched the internet for parts, but came up craps. Need ANY info and help as far as this go! Thanks! :)

No idea at all, but I would assume it simply moves a potentiometer left and right like many 270degree steering wheels use for left/right movement.

Yeah I agree, the motorcycle games I have played on have not had a forward/back motion, just analog left/right (+ hand throttle + handbrake).

Some bike games have the entire bike tilt over left/right, or some seem to have a pivot just behind the handbars - the handlebars stay fixed and the rest of the bike swings left/right behind it.

Even if motorcycles had a forward and backward movement, it would seem that two potentiometers (left/right and front/back) would be used (similiar to a Star Wars yoke).
