Title: Space Galaga ..... in Space?
Post by: Howard_Casto on January 07, 2014, 04:20:36 pm
I thought I would mention this one.  There is this new anime from the Cowboy Bebop guys called Space Dandy.  It's apparently a big deal as it's the first anime to be dubbed into English at the first run.  It actually premiered on Adult swim FIRST last week.  It's a comedy... pretty funny, but that's not the point.

They've teamed up with Namco to create Space Galaga!

It's a hd remake of Galaga with some Space Dandy ships and characters thrown in just for fun.   It's supposed to come out for Android and iOS sometime soon.  No word if there will be a pc release but it's still cool anyway.

Cool.  I saw that on our DVR and wondered what it was.  I guess the same people made Full Metal Alchemist which is one of my favorites.

The game looks pretty cool as well.

It's a weird comedy so it might not be for everyone, BUT the animation is the best I've seen since the Don Bluth laserdisc games.  I mean the animation is seriously flawless and unlike most anime they don't use cheap tricks to avoid properly animating parts of the body.

I wouldn't go that far, but the series and the game does look cool.

Cowboy Bebop is one of my favs.

I set the DVR up to record this and wifey killed it thinking it was something else.

I record all of one show once a week and the ---smurfette--- fills the DVR up with reruns of Ellen, Dog, and that bitchy judge. Methinks it's time to get my own DVR for the ONE show I actually want to record.  :whap

You know I've never gotten into the DVR thing.  VCRs were such a  pain in the butt that when TiVo came around and they expected me to pay a monthly fee to use what is essentially a  VCR.... well no thanks.  My cable company has really good on demand features.  90% of the channels I watch have on demand.... cartoon network included.  I *think* adult swim is streaming the first episode for the show on their website.

Btw who the hell dvrs daytime television?  Those are throw away shows people watch when they absolutely positively have nothing to do, plus they are on daily... it's like archiving broadcasts of the news.

Give her the benefit of the doubt...User error. Show her how to set the DVR to record  one episode she wanted instead of "every occurrence".
