Title: Newb question- Arkanoid
Post by: Morario84 on January 03, 2014, 06:23:27 pm
So I just build my cabinet and everything is working great, but I have a question- I know arkanoid was a game that used a spinner and not joysticks, but is there a way to make it work with the 8 way joysticks I have now? I'm getting the hang of MAME but I don't know everything yet. Right now when I try to play with my joystick, my ship just blinks around the screen (like I'm spinning super fast). Even if I can just moved left to right at a fixed speed, that would be fun.

Disclaimer: Playing Arkanoid with any control other than a spinner just seems like blasphemy.   :scared   :lol

"Analog Controls" menu "Dial Digital Speed" is the setting you are looking for. (default is 15 -- lower = slower)

I know. This is my first setup tho. Maybe someday I'll get a spinner. Thanks.

With this mess with traditional games, say, Final Fight? Or only other spinner games?

Launch the game and press TAB to bring up the menus.

These menus will only change settings for that specific game ROM, unless you change something in the "Input (general)" part of the menu.

If you mess a setting up and want to take it back to default, select the setting and do this:

For slider controls like "Dial Digital Speed" that have a number
- Press Enter (returns it to default)

For programmable inputs like player buttons
- Press Enter (lets you program the setting)
- Press Escape (sets it to "none")
- Press Enter (lets you program the setting)
- Press Escape (returns it to default)

Have fun playing.
