So, did some reading around, and learned that the NEC EA231WMI can apparently do proper tri-sync for an LCD monitor. How would you suppose this could be set up for GroovyMAME? Also, dumb as this would sound, but in 15KHz should one consider using HLSL to make it not look so sharp?

Ok, just wanted to make sure you hadn't bought it already in order to be truly honest. I don't think there's much advantage in using a tri-sync LCD monitor, as long as you are going to connect it to a PC. A different story is if you're going to use 15 kHz sources like PCBs or consoles. Think that the LCD's board will just upscale everything to the native resolution of the panel, whatever it is. And this scaling is usually worse than the one you can do with your video card, so IMO it's better to always feed LCD monitors with their native resolution and keep the scaling under our control.

If you're going to get an LCD, a G-Sync monitor is the only option at this point.

I was considering it, as my 1084S is in dire need of repair/restoration, and my NEC ColorTrak (while needing fairly minor repairs for the yoke) is unable to accept PAL or 50Hz input (and uncertain if the EIA Multiport can even accept proper RGB to begin with). I was mainly thinking of using my Amiga 1200 with such a display until I can find someone local that has affordable prices on CRT repairs.
