Title: MP4 Movies From EmuMovies Won't Play
Post by: lettuce on January 01, 2014, 06:13:21 am
Have just gotten the complete Mame movies set from emumovies site in mp4 format but the videos appear not to play in Mala. The snap shot for the game selected displays for 4 seconds and then the movie is supposed to replace it and start playing, but all I get happen is the snap shot picture just gets replaced by a black window where the video is supposed to be playing. Any ideas?

You need Mala version 1.745 and up to play be able to use Mp4 videos.

Available at http://malafe.net/ (http://malafe.net/) in the download section.

i don't think videx supports mp4 because it's built into the player, not a codec. programs load the codec DLL to play media. not an actual player.

download the K-lite full pack. never steered me wrong. make sure you carefully click through the installation so you don't get any toolbars and whatnots.

Most codec packs have too many add-ons (i.e. toolbars, adware) that can cause you issues. Use ffdshow if all you need is the basics. Look for it on sourceforge. That's all I use in my cab to make MALA show the mp4's from emumovies.

Like he said ... klite rocks... no bars, only codecs and with media player classic!

I have tried both kilte and ffdshow and i still get the same result. I have even tried loading the default layout, and that does the same, displays the snap shot for 2 seconds and then (in this case of the standard layout) just a dark blue square where the snap shot was

vidx will not work.  I had the same exact issue with MP4 and GameEx.  Resolved it by using the shark007 codec.  (Getting it was like wandering through wrong click hell.)

Shark007 codec worked a treat!!!! The only trouble i have now is when the video repeats itself it has some artifact issues for a few seconds at the start.....

Any ideas if theres any options within Skark007 control panel that might stop this from happening??

Honestly don't know as once I installed them it worked without issue.  About all I can confirm is that I don't see the artifact issues on my cab.    Glad it got you most of the way there though.
