Anyone know if the 8liner chasis will work on the Eygo 27" monitor? I am wondering if it does work, will I be able to get 800X600 on that screen or is that a limitation of the Tube itself. My EYGO stopped firing up and is doing some wierd clicking sound, I assume it isnt tube related, so i thought I would give the 8liner chasis a try. Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Those are two totally different types of monitors. The eygo is basically a computer monitor. Not compatible.
-
The tube sure looks compatible with the chasis? Are you sure about this? Can anyone confirm that the EYGO 27" tube will not work with an 8liner chasis?
-
Get the picture tube numbers so the specs can be checked.
-
What numbers do I need? Just model number and manufacturer?? I know its a Phillips tube, but thats all I know off the top of my head.

Can anyone help? I would really like to get this thing ordered if it will work for me. Hate to dump 500 bucks if I can fix what I have for under 100.
-
The picture tube number should start with something like A68.
-
Should fix your Eygo. Maybe it needs some capacitors or a horizontal output transistor.
-
Ok CRT number is A66EAK252X44. Will the 8liners chasis work with this tube? Thanks in advance!

Closest matches I could find (so CANNOT guarentee it's the same.. Perhaps Ken Layton has better reference material) are:
A66EAK00X
A66EAK50X
A66EAK51X
Filament Voltage: 6.3v
Direct Heat: No
CRT Bias: 116V/68V
F1: 9
F2: 10
RK: 8
GK: 6
BK: 11
G1: 5
G2: 7
Same pinouts as a 19VJTP22 (WG K4600/Electrohome G07 chassis' tubes used) but that was 19" of course and not 27.
So it SHOULD be usable. But you now need to measure the DC resistance of your vertical yoke windings to determine if the impedence is correct.
Again, I couldn't find an exact match so I think it's best to find out exactly what this tube is rather than guessing and assuming '252x44' maps to a '##x' model.
-
Hmmm.....A66 would be a 26" tube. I don't have any picture tube specs, but I'm also thinking this tube should work. Check that vertical yoke winding resistance.
-
I will check the vertical ohms tonight. That is weird that it is numbered as a 26". It was sold as a 27" EYGO and fits a 27" bezel from HAPPS, but I have never actually measured it. Anyway, I will get back with you all on the ohm measurements, and I really appriciate all of you for helping!

Ok just looked at my monitor. My yoke has 5 connections on it. It is Yellow - Red - Blue - Blank? - Grey. So I assumed that the grey was probably green since I saw the 4 pin connector on the chassis with a yel., red, blue, and grey wire in it. I measured the Ohms on yellow and grey and came up with 3.4. Does this seem right? thanks in advance.

I think it would help if you could post pictures of the yoke connector & the monitor chassis. Something's not right here. Still think you should have your existing Eygo/Wei-Ya/Huai chassis repaired.
-
I still don't see how in the world a CGA chassis is going to work on an SVGA tube?
Even if it does, it will then be a regular arcade monitor, and you will need an arcadeVGA or advancemame and a hacked cable to drive it.

Pageoliver:
That's why I suggested repairing the original chassis. Sounds like either bum caps or a bad horiz out transistor. Enough of those particular Eygo monitors were sold on ebay, yet I've never seen one of those.
-
Anyone be willing to look at/repair the chasis? I just don't have much of a nack for electronics. Thanks in advance.

Anyone?
-
Where are you located? You could send the chassis to me. Do you have a picture of this chassis? I've only worked on the Eygo/Wei-Ya/Huai CGA and VGA resolution chassis. I've also repaired over 1,000 monitors in the past 25 years, too.

I *think* this is a VGA monitor (only goes to 640 X 480). I will take a picture of the chasis tonight if I can. I am pretty sure the power supply is what is screwed up on the chasis, as it just "clicks" when you give it power. Again I am no expert, but would GREATLY appriciate it if you could take a look at it for me. Again, I will try and get some pictures of the chasis tonight. Thanks again.
OH yea, and Im in Indiana, but have no problem paying shipping both ways to whereever you are.

Yes, a 640x480 monitor is a VGA one. An 800x600 one is an SVGA one.
-
Ken,
Sorry so late posting. I still can't get my dig camera to work. I found some pictures of the monitor here: http://www.geekasaurus.com/clint/ not sure if they will be what you need or not? If not, let me know and I will try try again!

Chassis looks very similar to the Eygo 14" VGA monitors in the Dartstar Spectrum electronic dart games I used to repair when I worked at Capitol Amusement. Looks like a cinch to repair. Ship the monitor circuit board to me at my home address of:

Fedex ground shipping is the cheapest. Be advised though that I stopped using UPS since they won't leave packages here if no one is home. UPS has caused me no end of grief, delays, and lost revenue because of their stupid policy.
Everything should just unplug from the monitor circuit board. The neck board must be sent also with the monitor main circuit board as they are hard wired to each other. I don't need the remote adjustment board. Granted I don't have a tube or anything else to test the chassis with, but I'm pretty sure I could get it up and operational again.
-
Wow that would be great! I will try and disconnect it all this week and get it out to you by early next week. Obviously there is no rush, I just appriciate your willingness to look at it. Thanks again!

Old thread, but the information in here is relevent to my issues so I hope someone can help. I've been going back and forth about what monitor to use for my mame set-up, and I think I want to convert my 2001 emerson 27" crt tv over to an arcade monitor using 8liners chassis but need some help from the experts.
I contact 8liners and gave him all the specs to my tv that he requests on this page: http://www.8liners.com/datatech/monitor.html (http://www.8liners.com/datatech/monitor.html)
It clearly states on his site that these chassis will work with 13,19,20,21,25 and 27 inch tv's...but in his email he told me they work great with a 25" monitor but he has never tried them with a 27" so i am confused?? He said I could still buy one and if it doesn't work, the worst case scenerio is I can locate a 25" screen to make it work.
Anyways, I need to know if anyone has used these with a 27" screen, or has swapped boards from a 25" chassis with a 27" chassis with no ill effects?
I REALLY need some help here before I throw $125 away ....any experience with these chassis boards, arcade monitors or something?
Here are some pics of my TV and what I am dealing with:
The number on the back of the tube is as followed:
A68KTB359X
10 pin neck board connector

Also want to mention that my TV has a red and blue wire (which I assume is for horizontal) and a brown and yellow wire (which I assume is for vertical)...the impedence measured as followed at the neck board:
1.6 ohms for horizontal (red/blue)
8 ohms for vertical (brown/yellow)
Thanks in advanced
