Title: Building a super gun...video question.
Post by: Sarver Systems on December 30, 2013, 11:36:28 am
As the title says, I am buildign a super gun to test the multitude of boards laying around in boxes.

I'm planning to put an LCD on the supergun for testing purposes. But I'd also like to add the ability to hook up a full size arcade monitor of various sizes so I can test those as well.

Would this just be a matter of a cable, or would I need some kind of video board in between to go from ther jamma connector to the monitor?

I have considered doing the same thing someday, and I think the best route would be to pick up a GBS 8200 CGA to VGA board for your LCD monitor.  Make yourself a Y splitter to supply your arcade monitor signal as well as the LCD signal so you can quickly swap display types.  The board is only 35-45 bucks and works pretty well on an LCD with everything I have tried it with, though I have heard of some incompatibilities/quirks with a few games out there.
