Title: XMOS StartKit
Post by: SavannahLion on December 29, 2013, 06:15:13 pm
I signed up for a contest yonkers ago and my prize arrived in time for Christmas. An XMOS StartKit, basically an 8 core 32 bit processor with 64K shared RAM in a Von Neumann design.

To be honest, I never expected anything so I just went ahead and (started to) implemented a multi-processor design using AVRs and a tablet for the UI and logic.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I want to learn another architecture. The community is virtually non - existent and XMOS is a fabless company so they might be a FBN operation. I really don't want to spend months creating something with this only to have it all gone if the company folds.

I just have nightmares like I do with MAXIM doing one-off runs on their cool chips.

In a nutshell, I'm not sure if I want to do anything with this board.

The slices are expensive.  My Pi is cheaper.  ;D

I agree it looks like something very involved you would use for industrial QA or monitoring.

Ebay for $80 or give it to charity.

Besides you are too busy at the moment.  :lol

My mistake.   ???
