Title: Robotron marathon happening right now
Post by: 1500points on December 26, 2013, 10:49:42 am
Please join us in supporting David Gomez from Houston, TX, who is trying for 100 million on Robotron2084, today.  A feat that may take upwards of 24 hours of continuous grueling intensity to achieve.  His previous practice sessions have reached the 8 hour mark in the 30 million range, so he is well-prepared!

He took a break to bleed off some lives (apparently Robotron has issues if you build up too many lives) and ended up taking too long of a break... he got back and ended up running out of lives at $39mil.

He'll be trying again tomorrow morning.

I read something about the "extra lives" roll at 255.  (it wasn't clear if it rolled to zero or one remaining)

You get an extra life every 25,000 - so when you're in the millions of points, that's a lot of extra lives.  (at 10 mil you'd have earned 400 extra lives, rolling the counter if you didn't intentionally bleed them off)

So are we talking he took a 10 minute break when it should have been 9 minutes, or was he gone a couple of hours and it should have been 119 minutes?

for that competition he was playing difficulty 5, but there are some folks out there who can roll 10 million at difficulty 10....such as screenname, (+_+) when he was around.

the equation for calculating break time for him was that he averages about 32k a wave and loses 10 men in 10 waves.
so that calculates to a surplus of 90 lives every 10 mil, assuming the player is consistent and not fatiguing.
losing a man every 6 seconds or so equates to 10 lives lost per minute of break.

and when rolling at 255 the lives count goes to 0, until you hit the next 25k bonus and it goes to 1.

in his last attempt he rolled at 28mil, then earned 1 life back, but lost 2. game over.

Dane T. will be trying for 100mil at MAGfest this coming weekend, along with some other Robotroners. stay tuned.
