Title: can I use the 5v and ground on my optiwiz to power my novagem tracball leds?
Post by: severdhed on December 25, 2013, 11:16:50 am
Title says it all..just got a new illuminated trackball from ggg for Christmas. I want it to be a single color, do I need to tap into the pc power supply, or can I use the spare 5v on the optiwiz that came with it?

It depends on how many USB devices you have attached to the bus, but you should be fine if it's not already overloaded.

I have the optiwiz connected to a powered usb hub that also has an ipac 4 and a Logitech wireless receiver for my keyboard. It should be ok then.

Thanks Randy, you and your products are awesome.

Merry Christmas
