Title: Ideas for Game Room Lights
Post by: evh347 on December 15, 2013, 02:23:58 pm
Hey, I've been watching numerous videos on YouTube of people showcasing their game rooms.  I think the right lighting can contribute to the ambiance of the room.

What do folks on here recommend for lights in their game rooms?

I like a lot of the stuff sold by American DJ, but are there some more practical or better recommendations?  Any specific devices you like?

Hm, what are you trying to achieve with the lighting? An ambient mood style or the full disco version with mirror balls and all that stuff?
Personally I would like some old neon signs that doubles as eye catchers and mood/omni lighting.
With modern technology a couple of color changing LED strips could to the trick. Add a few dollars and go for addressable ones, that can have any sequence that you like.
I guess many are going for the UV lights, that can have some nice effects if done properly.

I would stay away from everything that is sending light beams causing reflections at the monitors.

I'm looking at ambient mood stuff.  In many game room videos on YouTube, I see videos with various colored lights moving, twisting, or turning around the room.

That is probably American DJ type disco products (I realize that), but what specific devices are people into using to create that/those effects?

It's a gameroom.  Gotta be black lights and black light carpet.

I upgraded the fluorescents in my dedicated machines to natural light. Between those, the blacklights I put in my crane, and the TV running music videos, I have plenty light. I've read that if you have pinballs, stay away from neon lights.

One old-school product that is now available with LED technology is the American DJ Rotoballs.
The ADJ Agressor and the ADJ Vertigo is also LED incarnations of other old school light effects.
