Title: Dedicated tablet for touchscreen jukebox

I need some advise.  I am thinking about getting a tablet, attaching an external hard drive, and plugging the audio output into my stereo.  This would be just for mp3's. 
My questions are:
1) What software should I use?
2) What tablet should I get?
Please help as I have no experience with any tablet, so I don't know which one's would work best for this.

Had the same quest.....never did find a solution that I LOVED.
Found what I think is a good alternative, and I'll keep my eyes open.
