Title: Beatmania Instructions?
Post by: MameMaster! on November 25, 2003, 04:24:19 pm
Greets all!

....I've been a lookin' but I can't seem to find any documentation on how to play Beatmania in MAME.

...although I know I can figure it out (my game is over before I even have a chance to really figure it out each time)...I was wondering if any one has created a faq on this one that any one is aware of?

Just wonderin'

The MameMaster!  ??? ???
PS- and yes I have plenty of "virtual quarters" to keep trying it over and over and over.......but it's so darn complicated!

FYI-
I just came across this site:

http://www.jpopmusic.com/beatmania/bmfaq.php

It covers a "version" of beatmania for the PC and discusses the basic game controls/how to play.

....but a MAME faq would be interesting if it exists!

Well i think to get the full effect of Beatmania, you need to equivalent controls for it.  You need a record player-looking spinner, and 5 buttons (in the configuration of 5 piano keys).  You are basically a DJ playing tunes and hitting the right button combonations at the right time (ala ddr)

You can get a beatmania controller for the psx then get a psx to usb convertor.

Get the 7 key controller so you can support later versions.

Does mame have 1 or 2 buttons for the turntable?
