as i'm waiting for more parts for my Mame build, i wanted to share a thought that went through my head
i wanted my mame cabinet to be 3 things,
1. could stand for a roughly 10 years (wouldn't break)
2. that i would be able to move it when i'll move apartments (i have a lease and might move in a couple of months)
3. would be able to move it around yet, when i play to put it in place
as of now i am going to use a 20 mm MDF for the whole build project, and instead of just puting screws from one wood to the other,
i'm going to drill a hole through the wood and use not and bold to secure it to place, i think this will help with the disasembly of it
as for the wood i'm a little censored specially because it's MDF, but it's chip enough for me to buy it and 20 mm is kinda enough i think and i'm going to put plastic clear PVC on both it sides as on the control panel so it would help a bit,
for the wheels i'm going to use these wheels with stoppers (like on baby carriages) that i would be able to move it around ..
would you guys think ?

so 20mm being roughly 3/4 inches thick is spot on. The problem with detachable cabs is there are certain parts that NEED to be fastening by glue to make sure you get the strength. The strength of these cabs doesn't come from the screws, but the wood glue involved.
If you have your heart set on a cab that can disassemble I would look at Le Chuck's Fieldhouse arcade unit he built with Bolts and Nuts.
