Hi BYOACers,
Long time lurker first time poster :D Thanks for all the info so far :D
Just finishing off my Astro City mame cab build and having a boot resolution problem I hope someone can help me with. I followed this guide to set up http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=24216 (http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=24216) and I have a HD4350 card and I'm running CRT_Emudriver, based on Catalyst 9.3 XP32/64: I used Arcade_OSD to set my desktop at 640x480 @ 15khz res and everything works apart from getting the correct res when the video drivers first load up.
I can't get the PC to boot at the correct res without plugging in my PC Monitor first and waiting for it to boot and the signal to drop out and then plugging in the Cab VIA the J_PAC, then it looks good on the Cab. If I boot with the Cab plugged in I can see it booting but as soon as windows and the video driver loads it drops out. If I then switch to the PC Monitor I still see nothing so it's either sending nothing or something not viewable by either. I have tried looking at my config.ini but I can't see why this is happening??

More info..........
I have been using the VGA out port on my card, someone suggested i should try the DVI port with a VGA adapter, I tried that but get no picture at all, the signal is blocked on the J-PAC to the Cab, and I don't even get a picture booting to the old PC CRT monitor.
Back to the VGA and booting to the PC monitor and then swapping to the Cab, oh why, but why :(

OK I fixed the problem myself but thought I would post here in case it helps anyone else.
It seems my video card was the issue, I have been told that most HD4350 cards work fine in this situation, but some have issues. I found my card wanted to be sent an EDID that the Arcade Monitor does not supply (The J-PAC does not send an EDID either), so I bought an VGA-to-VGA DDC/EDID Emulator from here http://connectpro.com/product/vga-edid/ (http://connectpro.com/product/vga-edid/) and cloned the EDID from my old PC monitor. Now using the emulator plug I can boot up with the Arcade cab plugged into the PC with no problems.
