Title: TZ resetting itself [solved]
Post by: Dawgz Rule on December 10, 2013, 06:21:53 pm
My TZ started having an issue where it resets mid-play.  I can consistently get this to occur by simply shooting the ball such that it ejects out the slot machine.  Immediately upon ejecting the ball, the machine will reset.
Any help on this one would be appreciated.

Managed to get a consistent failure each time with a "check switch F3 & F7".  Reseated J101 and the power issue went away.

Of course it was followed by "Clock is Broken".   Disassembled clock and realigned the hands.

Back to playing pinball again.

Well, that's good news!  Glad to have some this week....even though it's not me.

You need to rebuild J101.  That issue will come back until you fix the root cause.

Do not rebuild J101 unless the problem refuses to go away.  I have NEVER had to rebuild that connector after it has been cleaned.

Just because some jackass from Michigan wrote it in a guide does not make it fact.

I will keep an eye on it and rebuild if it continues to be problematic.  I treat most pinball issues like I do a popped circuit breaker.  You can always reset it once.

I have to say that I am always amazed how the 40 year old EM's that I have never have an issue.  Only my TZ and on occasion, TOM.
