Hello-
Anyone using GM with Windows Vista 32bit? If so how do you like it? Any bugs?
-
The bugs won't be with GM...
Vista will be your weak point.. get rid of it!
-
I was thinking about upgrading. I just bought an older duo core that was built for Vista. I downloaded XP and have been dealing with reinstalling drivers. I think I am going to stay with XP.
-
XP64 is the way (still) to go with GM and Crt Emu Driver.
-
I only have 3gb of ram so I went with the 32bit xp. I wasn't for sure my PC could benefit from the 64bit version. Thoughts?
-
MAME is way faster if you use a 64-bit MAME exe on a 64-bit operating system.
You don't need gobs of RAM for XP 64-bit. 3GB or 4GB is plenty.

I upgraded to 64 bit xp and 64 bit mame. Wow! Everything is running at 100%. I was surprised to see stf 3 chd at 100%! Loving it!
-
Well…I was running 100% until I dropped in Groovymame. Setup VMMaker. Now Galaga is running at 85%. Am I doing something wrong?
My setup:
XP 64bit
Core 2 Duo 2.93Hz 3GB Ram ATI Radeon HD2400XT
CRT EMUDriver 9.3 64bit
Mame 64 build dropped in Groovymame 0.151 64bit

Calamity, thank you for the link. Should I enable multithreading?
-
You can create an INI file just for that specific game that enables multithreading and nothing else.
Start with a blank text file, and just add the line to enable multithreading.
The ini file should be named after the set name with .ini tacked on the end.
If you find other games with the same situation, you can create ini files for those games as well.

Thanks Krick!

Hi rawbe,
If multithreading has worked for you before, it's probably safe to enable it as a general option. GroovyMAME now is wise enough to disable it for you in some situations, like multi screen setups, etc.
