I have my buttons wired as:
1237
4568
Capcom games all work straight "out of the box" but neo geo 4-button games are all wrong. I know I can enter each game, hit Tab, and start assigning buttons, but I was wondering if there is an easy way to assign controls to all games that use the neo geo bios? For instance, I set KOF98 up correctly, and so it has the CFG file... any way to apply that CFG file to the neo geo bios and all games that use it? I read some things about ctrlr files but it seemed out of date - is that still the right way to go?

The method I was using to copy ini files for a given resolution should work for this.
Started to write instructions, but it was quicker to just do it. ;D
Change the extension on the attached file to .bat, stick it in your cfg folder along with the good kof98.cfg file (not kof98k, kof98ka or kof98h), and then run it.
Quick explanation is that I generate a list with Mawler (selected neodvr under driver in deluxe search):

Then copy (ctrl C) and paste that into a spreadsheet that generates the lines for the batch file (copy and paste column D into notepad).

There are smarter ways to go about it if you know how to write batch files, but I work with what I know how to use.

Thanks, I will give that a try Badmouth.

Use a ctrlr file. Look at the one of the included ones as an example. They have one section named neogeo and then all neogeo games are mapped.

:stupid What he said. A ctrlr file will do the trick pretty readily.
