I've got a happ controls 3" trackball going through a hagstrom ke72-T. It works well enough, but the thing is jumpy as hell. It moves like the computer is thrashing, the refresh rate seems very low. By comparison, if I spin the spinner, the cursor in XP moves smooth as silk. I see that I can get an oscar usb interface for the trackball, but I'm wondering if this is just a physical reality of the trackball, or if it can be corrected somehow? It's annoying, it's so imprecise, sometimes in Marble Madness, it'll just reverse itself if I move too quickly in one direction.
Any ideas?

As far as the reversing directions... Here's a thought...

Try changing your mouse's sample rate to 200. You can do this by going into the device manager and going into the settings for your mouse. This probably won't solve all your problems, but it should help.

I too have a ke72-t and the trackball is smoot after you change XP's default settings.
Change you mouse's sample rate to 200 or higher.
Turn off Fast Initialization.
Play around with the other characteristics until you get the desired behavior (like acceleration ect...)
There was a thread several months ago that dealt with these issues which I used to configure my trackball.

I found the thread:

This should solve all of your problems.
