I tried to read in the manual I found here (http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arcade_Atari_Kee/Road_Blasters/) for a dipswitch setting.  I also wondered if it was easy mode or some sort of sales demo thing.  Didn't find the answer though.  What a strange problem.

Thanks for looking. I should have mentioned that I have the OEM owners manual and the schematic manual. No help there. This game doesn't appear to have dip switches on the PSB. All game options appear to be selected through the self-test menu. There's a feature called "bonus adder / free play", but I assume that only gives free play, not invincibility -- which is what I'm experiencing.

Sure.

Does the game pass each of the self tests?

Yes, it passes all self tests. I was just out in my garage, fooling with it, and the "adder" option has nothing to do with this problem. The "adder" gives additional coin credit when a customer adds more than 2-4 at a time. The machine is now set to free play. I even tried putting it back on coin mode to see if that might be the problem. It does the same thing.

Anybody?

I had a Road Blasters briefly and it wouldn't work correctly without a very strong 5VDC going to the board.  In fact, if I recall correctly, I daisy chained it to an old Atari Audio Regulator 2 board in another cabinet.  When it was getting ~7VDC it would actually play well.

So, check your voltages, consider cranking up your 5V adjustment on your power supply, and then remove and reseat all the socketed chips on the board.

Thanks for the tip.
