Title: u360 sticks and IPAC 4 wired buttons
Post by: spratkobasa on November 27, 2013, 08:34:33 pm
Hi Everyone,

I have my u360 sticks hooked up to my control panel using the usb cords.  I did not get a button harness for the u360s.  I then wired my IPAC 4 to all of my 40 buttons on my control panel.  The problem is now that the u360's show up as gampads with butttons that don't exist (as I did not use the button harness).  Is there a way to make windows see the gamepad (u360 stick) + the IPAC 4 as one controller?

You might be able to use virtual joystick drivers to bring the two together.

Personally, I'd just order the harness and wire the buttons to the U360s.

I think I found a way around it which will require no rewiring.  Will report back what I do when I'm done.

PPJoy can be used to merge multiple joystick sources into 1 joystick as Fursphere mentioned.

I'm considering using this method as well if I decide to go with more 8 buttons than the U360 itself can support.  Let me know if that's what you used or something else..

I got around the whole wiring issue.  Turns out I just had to change which device it listened to for each component.  So the emulators allowed a combination of keyboard and gamepad to be used as a controller without any additional software.  That said I haven't gone through all the emulators yet.  Right now I am currently trying to come up with a button mapping strategy that doesn't cause loss of focus or other unwanted issues when playing.  I was recommended to use the MAME  default from winPAC and then use AHK's to avoid issues in other emulators.
