Just wondering if someone can tell what vinyl media to get graphics printed on
Marquee - Should this be placed on the front of the glass? Therefore back adhesive. Should be something so it can be backlit I hear? What would this material be called?
Control Panel - I heard this should be of a thicker, more durable, heavy use material. What would this be called?
Cabinet Sides - Base background vinyl, Flat Black? Should this be thick?
Thanks

For the marquee, it would usually be sandwiched between pieces of acrylic.
You wouldn't typically want it stuck on the outside of it.
You can check with your print shop on what materials they have that will light well.
I remember seeing a 3m product at a print shop that really looked nice but I don't remember it's name.
Usually for the control panel, you would cover the artwork with acrylic for protection.
Have you thought about just using gameongrafix?
They do awesome work.
I got my marquee and CPO done there.
The marquee came with two sheet if acrylic and fit perfectly.
The CPO is very durable and great looking.
I have no acrylic covering the CPO and its held up great.
As far as using a local print shop. I know many here were happy with kinkos but I wouldn't trust them to make a simple business card.

Polycarbonate Laminate. That's the tough stuff.

Yeah, I meant to say that the stuff from gameongrafix is polycarbonate laminate.

Marquee - you'll want a translucent vinyl. this allows the light to shine thru.
Control Panel - Regular vinyl is fine, but it's highly recommended to cover in clear acrylic/plexi.
Cabinet Sides - Regular vinyl with a laminate should hold up just fine.

That sounds like a great idea. I got my first marquee printed at Staples, and there is waves in the paper(see picture). I placed it behind the marquee glass. I'm gonna go to Home Depot and grab some polycarbonate to place behind the picture for now. I redesigned the marquee and added a MAME logo.
So do you think I should get the new one printed on translucent vinyl film, with an adhesive back so I can attach it to the polycarbonate laminate, and then sandwich it to the glass? Or just reprint on paper and then sandwich it? Was your marquee from gameongrafix print on paper?
Going to go checkout gameongrafix, how much did it cost for your control panel artwork?
Thanks

That's a big ole Marquee. You could place an LCD in there and have dynamic Marquees instead. :)
