Title: Side Panel Template
Post by: otsep on November 22, 2013, 11:46:59 am
I would like my template to be durable yet easy to work with.

Should I use regular ply or MDF?

When creating the template, which tool do you recommend? (Circular Saw, Jog Saw, Router, etc.)

Thanks for the guidance.

Im curious about this also as I have 2 templates that I would like to use as well, from what I have been reading people recommend MDF or ply.

MDF would be the better choice for a template. Especially if you seal the MDF against moisture. As for making the template, rough cut the outline first (circular saw or jigsaw as needed) then tighten up the edge with a router.

Mdf is the easiest to route, so from a control panel it's the one of choice but for a template of sides, sanded ply would work well too.  Remember to seal any wood you choose.
