There hasn't been anything I've been interested in the past few years.
The Pep Boys a few minutes from my house gives out gift cards to the first 50 people in line.
There's usually only 20-30 people in line, so sometimes I'll go get the free gift card right after they open and then go right back to bed.

What's everyone on the hunt for this year?
-
I will be black friday'ing from the comfort of my home. Or on my phone. Christmas shopping is already done, but if I can find an autorip version of a cd for $5 or less, I might go for it. That and Steam sales or humble bundles. OTOH I will be looking for new pc parts for new computer.
It really all depends if Arcade Paradise, Groovy Game Gear, KADE or Ultimarc are having any sales.
-
Pep Boys? Auto Zone runs sales all the time and uses Shop Runner. $16 shipped for overnighted brake pads earlier this week. :laugh2:
I haven't seen any deals this year that have gotten my pulse racing.
:dunno
-
I did Black Friday once. Once. Never again.
-
I usually hit up Menards. You think women are viscous shoppers on black Friday? You haven't seen dozens of men fight for everything they can grab from a pallet of $1 rifle cases.

I actually did a black Friday sale when I was doing the ZD encoders. I has some door bustin' savings I tell ya. 8)
-
I think it's fun, but I'm never after the big ticket items other people are freaking out over.
-
I usually pop in about 10am and grab cheap flash drives, then see what DVDs, Blurays, and video games are left.
-
The wife and I need new phones. We will probably go out that weekend but not on Friday.
-
There's a laptop from OfficeDepot I'm going to try and get but I will try to get it online.
Also want to get the boy a tablet with bluetooth for less than $100 and I really can't believe I can't find one. Every time I get my hopes up, bam, no bluetooth.
Anybody seen one that fits the bill?

Get a Galaxy Tab 7. They are $100.00 Also HP is bringing out a $100 Atom based Android, but I don't know if it a BF deal or not.

Anyone got any good Black Friday stories? I went to Best Buy one year to get some stupid Star Wars game for $10. There was one parking spot left, with a shopping cart in it.
I thought I could just back in and push it with my truck. Well, cart got stuck, I gave it too much gas, and there was a loud crash. People came running, everything. Tailgate was dented, shopping cart was fine. Go into Best Buy, "we've got it in stock but we don't know where it is and we're not looking for it."
:timebomb:
A couple months later, I bought an Xbox. That game was packed in. Played it once and hated it.
:timebomb:
Drove around with that dent for years until some moron in St. Louis rear-ended me. Still have that truck, he doesn't have that Mazda anymore.
;D
-
Does lining up at a Toys-R-Us at 3 am 7 years ago count?
Old people just don't get it btw.
"So are you buying this for your kids?"
"Hell no! I don't have kids, I'm getting this for me."
:D

I worked in retail for years and years, and that experience has destroyed any goodwill towards humanity I once had. I will not shop Black Friday and I sure as hell will not shop on Thanksgiving Day.
-
Just online, if there are cheap 360 games on Amazon, Microsoft Store (they had a great sale last year), and Newegg. My tolerance for other humans wouldn't suit the retail black friday experience.
-
My only experience with black Friday was two years ago and it was quite pleasant. No traffic. Went to Sears to get the price I paid for my TV adjusted. (they let me get it early) I then went to a furniture store, got a prize discount at the door and got one hell of a deal on a credenza to sit below said new TV. I went somewhat later than opening so I did not experience any craziness.
-
Black Friday is also Record Store Day so I'll be heading down to the store and paying too much for some limited edition music releases. Though only really one thing is on my list so it'll be a short, inexpensive trip... hopefully

It depends on what you go for really. I've waited a couple of times for video game stuff. Video game fans are always extremely nice, particularly Nintendo fans. Now these crazy ass soccer mom's trying to get 50 dollars off a flat screen tv... they are monsters.
Amazon is supposed to have really good deals this year.... a sale every 10 minutes from now until black Friday. I get a lot more done online these days honestly.
-
I prefer for my wife to take my daughters shopping on Black Friday while I sleep.
I've gone a couple times with my wife, mostly for the fun if watching nuts and picking up a couple of gifts.
One Black Friday a few years ago, we picked up a $2 electric griddle while we were shopping.
Man, we got our money's worth, we still use it.
-
If you are in the store, then you are one of the "nuts." :lol
Besides that time I tried to murder a shopping cart, I've always skipped it. Done pretty good online, though. Got a then $900 TV for $600 shipped (some Amazon Cyber Monday thing). Also did an Xbox Arcade, 20GB HD, and extra controller for $180ish via Circuit City and Bing cashback in 2008.
Only game I ever pre-ordered was Mortal Kombat for Genesis. Then we moved before it came out.
-
I haven't made it out on BF in close to 20 years. I'm sure I've missed some deals but life is too short to stress for sales. I'm not one of those that enjoys the hunt.
-

Well I can't argue with that
-
I usually buy random clothing/sneakers. check out any deals or whatever. later in the day too. only way Id be "camping" is if it was game I care about. say if there was a mgs5 ps4 bundle.
-
Black trailer trash day. I mean really people you would have to have the same IQ as ark_ader.

Maybe in your part of your hill billy world you have the trailer trash. The people in my town are just ordinary folks trying to make their money go further. If they are coloured or not I would not judge them. Only a racist bigot would do that, and it looks like that shoe fits you well.
As for IQ I doubt it, but I'm sure there are diamonds in the ruff anywhere you go.
Get a Galaxy Tab 7. They are $100.00
Where?
My bad it was the HP for $89. Still good enough to work on.

Ark, he wasn't making a racist comment. The day is called "Black Friday" due to historically being the point in time when retail business go from accounting red to black. All he did was insert "Trailer Trash" between the words.
-
Yeah he was. Trailer trash is a racist slur towards poor white people. Unfortunately for him racial slurs don't work on white people because we have confidence in ourselves.
-
Ah. I've never defined "Trailer Trash" as racial. It's always been socio-economic in my mind, regardless of color.
-

Says the guy who's too cheap to pay $50 for an MMA fight.
-
Trailer trash isn't a racial slur. Not even white trash is a racial slur. Those terms denigrate a socioeconomic group, not a race of people. "White" in "white trash" is like having an unreliable car you call the "blue lemon". You're not making a derogatory statement about the color blue.
-
Sam's Club had a "pre-sale" event tonight. I got my taste of craziness for the year after just two hours and don't think we will be heading out to shop on Friday.
-

White trash is short for trashy white people. Trailer trash is another word for white trash. The fact that they are perceived as poor and of a lesser class IS the racial slur part. Very few people in my area live in houses, most live in trailers. Many of these trailers cost 100,000 dollars or more though and most of the people are far from stupid or of a lower class of people.
Now do you see why it's a racial slur? Again hard to tell, because, no offense to minorities, but when white people are insulted they typically don't make a federal case out of it. But hey, I'm in a bad mood and fallacy seems to have a problem about saying just awful things about certain groups, so I thought I better call him on it for once.
If you want to argue the finer points on what a racial slur is then by all means, argue with yourself, but I think we can all agree that the comment was rather offensive regardless.
-
I remember learning about "Working Class Aristocrats" which are essentially those blue collar folks making six figures that tend to have very distinct tastes not shared by others with that level of income. That's a bit of a textbook term, though, as "White Trash with Money" really says it all.
:lol
I suppose like with all other labels, the meaning depends on the intent. I can't think of too many polite contexts for white trash, though.
-
The fact that they are perceived as poor and of a lesser class IS the racial slur part.
No it's not. If anything, the opposite is true. The term implicitly says that there is something exceptional about being white . . . like if you just said "trash", without the "white" qualifier, it would be assumed that you were talking about dark-skinned people. In any case, white trash would only be a racial slur if it was intended to describe a racial group. It isn't. When a person speaks of white trash they are not making a derogatory statement about white people in general.

Good God Man! Why do you have to always be so argumentative and irritating?
Go back to the Apple Store and amaze the 18 year olds and old ladies with your academic lamenting.
Just quit trolling. Nobody here gives a ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, you are beating a dead horse.
You are supposed to be intelligent. Act like it. :whap

I have to work (no I dont work in retail) but I look forward to seeing the chaos on the news.
-
Oh ye nitpickers! shmokes does have a valid point though, racist slurs generally refer to ethnicity, genetically linked folks not socio economic groups.
pbj's comment reminds me of what we have here - rich Boguns. The Bogun is a native Australian animal much like the wombat, eats, roots and leaves.

They had the laptop online for the sale price this morning. Done and done. No going out tonight for me!!!
