Title: Where to buy Sanwa JLF Shaft extenders?
Post by: kourampies on November 20, 2013, 10:30:55 am
I just installed 2 Sanwa JLF TP 8YT joysticks on my control panel. The shaft length is way too small for my tastes, and it loses something like 0.5cm due to the mounting position.

Those (http://www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/Shaft-Extender-For-Sanwa-Joysticks.html) seem like the perfect solution, but I cant find them anywhere. I found some supposedly compatible with both Seimitsu and Sanwa, but they are fatter than the standard, and the dust cover cant be used, which is unnaceptable.

Do you know somewhere that I can buy those simple standard shaft extenders? A longer version would be even better.

Paradise Arcade has hollowed versions of extended JLF shafts:

I can't find a non-hollowed versions anywhere anymore.

I was hoping for a simple, screw in type extender... I don't want to disassemble the joystick, and also, the price, 15 dollars for a piece of metal seems a little stiff. Anyway, I keep it in mind as a last resort.

Yeah, I feel ya. There used to be extenders on etokki, but they've been removed from the shop.

You could try and ask on the SRK forums. Lots of JLF fans there that might have a bit more info.

If you do eventually find the screw-in extenders, post your findings here please.

They are listed here for € 3,95 (never ordered from them but figured I'd post the link : ( http://www.shadaloo.eu/shop/parts/sanwa-seimitsu-sticks/seimitsu/shaft-extender-detail (http://www.shadaloo.eu/shop/parts/sanwa-seimitsu-sticks/seimitsu/shaft-extender-detail) )

And ArcadeworldUK has them listed on Ebay here  ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEIMITSU-SHAFT-EXTENDER-LS-32-LS-32-01-JOYSTICKS-/390515053439?pt=UK_Video_Games_Coin_Operated_MJ&hash=item5aec82d37f (http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEIMITSU-SHAFT-EXTENDER-LS-32-LS-32-01-JOYSTICKS-/390515053439?pt=UK_Video_Games_Coin_Operated_MJ&hash=item5aec82d37f) )

Those are the ones I found... I read dust cover instead of shaft cover. Im not using a shaft cover so they should be fine. Thanks!

My #100 post alert!   :applaud:

Pretty funny stuff here.

I upgraded my JLWs to use GGG Versa-Micros - Totally silent and reduced dead space.  Highly recommended

$15 + shipping from Hawaii!
Same price priority shipping as any store in the US, and.... we send chocolate.

We just ran a sale on shafts too!

LS-32 shafts are not the same size as Sanwa shafts, so be careful on using the adpaters.

The shafts are stainless and hollow, the hollow bore increases the cost significantly on machining.  We also have the Twist.
(http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/1045-thickbox_default/paradise-jlf-twist.jpg) (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/paradise-custom-jlf-modifications/982-paradise-jlf-twist.html)
(short, regular, twist regular, long)
The Twist offers three different length options for only $15, including a short shaft.  These are 15 plus $6 priority shipping to any where in the US. You can get 2 for 30, plus $6 priority shipping anywhere in the US, or get about 20, for 300, plus $6 priority shipping anywhere in the US... :)

Sorry the shipping costs being expensive is a common misperception.  Everything we ship goes flat rate.  Unlike many vendors who go by weight (which for priority mail will cost more than using flat rate boxes) we have everything set up to automatically assign to a flat rate box.  Susan is an AMAZING packer and will use the least expensive shipping she can using priority.  If you email her and request it, items can be sent first class.  I have priced our shipping against most vendors in the US and we are the same or cheaper than all I compared with for comparable products.

Just a heads up that you'll probably want to get some stiffer springs if you extend the shafts.  I got those screw on extenders and ended up getting stiffer springs to make it less sloppy.  I'm pretty happy with the result.

Just noticed I used the words: shaft, extend, stiffer, screw, and sloppy in the same post.  :lol
