I'm getting to the point where I'm nervous on my build. That is to mount my HDTV in the cab (safely). I obviously don't want the TV breaking away from the cab or it's rig and falling on all of my components below. I've seen where others have drilled into particle board (which I have plenty of scraps of) and mounted the TV directly to that. Then used 2x4 on the side of the cab.
My worries on this is that the particle board over time will not be strong enough to hold 20 lbs. dead weight. And the side of the cab would you use bolts to hold the 2x4 or can you use screws? I really want to refrain from using bolts on the side of the cab for obvious reason, but I'm worried that it's not safe to refrain from doing so.

So I just did this in the cab I am building and I use a 2x8 for the tv and then I use 2x3's on the sides of the cabinet. Never had issues this way.

You should be fine. Think how many millions of cabs built from particle board are still holding CRTs to this day.
